Spirit Companions :: Friends blog

February 07, 2008

In the previous post, I discussed my decision to find a new spiritual name. I've settled on one that I think resonates with me a lot better than the old one. It just feels special, while the other one felt more like a convenience. Formally I was Vira Cerhaes.

I'm proud to anounce that I have officially chosen Asta Vira as my new spiritual name. You can now contact me at astavira at rendingtheveil.com rather than the former Vira Cerhaes name if you have any questions.

Other new things going on with me: I approached Sheta about doing a column on festive activities relative to the sabbats. Look for Sabbat Celebrations in the upcoming issues :) I've also volunteered to help edit articles. I'm really excited about these new endeavors.

This blog isn't exactly drawing me to post in it. I'm sure many of you share those feelings. It'll pick up in time. Meanwhile I'm more focused on http://www.spiritcompanion.com Much better!

More later.

Okay, I did this with Livejournal a long time ago, and I guess I need to do it again on this journal.

I have four icons I use right now, and even though I have up to 100 I honestly can't see me using more than maybe 20.  I'll update this entry as I need to.

First Icon:

 Daven

This is my default icon.  Yes, that is me back when I was shaving my head and had a gotee.  I don't have the beard anymore, and I let my hair grow out, but it's still my default icon.  Generally I use this for when I'm just posting to post, not really categorizing anything of note, just kickin' it.

Second Icon:

 FMPPH

I'm rather proud of this one.  It was an "award" for those "repressive traditionalists who come into a perfectly good forum and tell everyone that they are being stupid by saying that whatever works is what Wicca and Magick is all about!"  Basically when we were in a discussion forum and got told we were being repressive traditionalists who were hidebound and just mean, we were awarded this icon.  I'm proud that I got it within a day of the award being offered.  I do reserve the right to call people on their stupidity, and I do it often.

Third Icon:

Magick

This is my default "magick" icon.  If I'm posting about, speculating about, talking about magick and the forces inside oneself, this is the icon I use.  Mostly it's because this one shows that the power comes from within.   This is a character from the anime Bleach, one with a lot of spiritual power in her so that it comes pouring out of her when she turns it on.  And having internal reiatsu (spiritual power) fluoresce into the visible specturm like this means that there is a TON of power.

Last Icon:

Dribble

Dribble, this is everybody, Everybody, this is Dribble.  She's a Dragon-Cat.  A cross of an oriental dragon and an extinct breed of cat from the north Japanese islands.  She exists on the Astral plane, and from what I can determine she's about 6000 years old.  Normally she's not gold and red like this one, but silver, white and light (ice) blue.  There is more fur on her and the face is much more feline shaped.  I first met her when she showed up and was drooling into my eye.  Since then, my life has been very interesting.  She's my spirit companion, the one I will probably be talking about the most here.  I have others, but they try to keep a low profile and I'll let them.

Those are about it.  I may put up another couple for use with the Astral Combat group, the Honoring group, and so on, but I'm not sure.  Just because you have something doesn't mean you must use it.

I hope many of you will do more blogging here as things pick up. I've started crossposting here, pretty much everything I put in my LiveJournal, and intend to post more personal stuff here (which I'm filtering - you can find the filter controls on "Your friends" page in the "Access Controls" link) in preparation for the move. Deeply personal stuff will be on a "safe" filter, and other, less crucial material will be friends only or logged in users only.

Hope you'll join me.

I got my profile up.  Yay me.  Probably something more as it is percalating through my head right now.  Not sure how much I'm going to post.

Never Fear, I am working hard on getting my profile here up and running.  I'm just trying to word it so I don't come out sounding like an arrogant jerk or a loon.

Patience is the watch word here.  Thank you all for your support.

October 30, 2007

I've been up since about noon yesterday (20.5 hours) working on the new issue. I've got seven more articles (and their "accessories") left to do, including final edits, code, graphics, etc. I've reached the end of my endurance for now, and will have to get some sleep. The birds (we have two very noisy Quaker parrots) waking up 10 feet away from me did quite a bit to influence my decision to just go to bed.

I'll be back later. Today is due to include sleep, finishing this magazine, and making the bulk of my daughter's Halloween costume.

First, sleep. But it's gonna be a great issue!

Next priority: Find out how to use the other nine icons I uploaded. :-|

I'm really excited about RTV's addition of the blog feature. I think having a blog here will make the transition away from Six Apart much smoother. Live Journal has been great but after reading about the 6A Nazis, it's time to make a change. Plus I'll be much more comfortable posting about my spiritual journey here, rather than on LJ where my non-occult interested friends can see it. They get creeped out by the stuff lol.

I just hope that the people that I like to read that haven't already joined will make the jump with me *nudges Aydira and Tanisha*

-Vira

(My first entry is going to be public, after that I'll probably have my posts set to logged in users only. So if you've found this entry and aren't a member yet, climb aboard. It's nice here :D )

Welcome to the new blogging feature of Rending the Veil. I'm pleased to be a part of this project, and look forward to adding all my LiveJournal friends who think that Six Apart is messing things up over there. Let the mass migration begin! :D
