The Submissions Editor will be in charge of finding new talent and soliciting new material for each issue. This would include reminding the current contributors of deadlines (both columnists and non-columnists), and reminding contributors to include all necessary components of their submissions. This also includes gathering contributions and forwarding them to the managing editors, after which we will assign them to content editors. At a later date, if necessary, this position will break down into sectors such as columns, articles, fiction, etc. Apply for this position.
The Advertising Editor(s) will be in charge of finding websites that would be of interest to the RTV readers and soliciting them for ads. This includes collection of actual ad graphics, ensuring that they meet the advertising guidelines. This would also include checking out websites of anyone coming to us and asking for ad space. The Art Editor will be in charge of soliciting and gathering artists of all types for gallery placement and commission sales, negotiating terms and possibly expediting orders. Apply for this position.
Additional placements are open for content editing of submissions prior to publication. The focus here is to make sure the research is properly done and accurate, to find areas in need of clarification or elaboration, and to ensure that all references are cited with all information included. This includes working back and forth with the writer of the piece, or with Sheta, as needed to expedite preparation for publication. Specific guidelines for editors are provided. Content editor will edit the submission, return it to the author for revisions, receive it back and look it over one more time, then send it to the assigned copy editor. Apply for this position.
Additional placements are open for copy editing of submissions prior to publication. Copy editors proofread for spelling errors, punctuation errors, etc. that content editors may have missed. This can include working with the writer of the piece, or with Sheta, as needed to expedite preparation for publication. This is the final polish before the piece is published. The Publicity Editor will be in charge of hyping and advertising the site in magical communities and so forth to spread the word and generate more members and readers. This can also include taking out paid ads (paid for with RTV petty cash) in places that seem promising. Apply for this position.
These editors help Sheta code the pages themselves, with assignments possibly divided into individual sections. Knowledge of XHTML and CSS is required. PHP knowledge is helpful but not absolutely required. Page templates are provided. Page content is added and formatted, then the page is tested, after which the bulk of the code is re-pasted into a PHP template (also provided). Apply for this position.
These editors will assist in making title and header graphics in a way consistent with all other issues of the magazine. This could include other art assignments for individuals open to them, as needed. This is not a difficult job for anyone with basic Photoshop skills. The templates are provided. This columnist/editor will be responsible for soliciting interesting or pertinent questions from readers, assigning said questions to a variety of staff writers (or writing answers hirself), and gathering the responses for a monthly column. This column will likely form the basis of the FAQ. Apply for this position.
