Want Your Book(s) Reviewed?

Review copies in the form of books, tapes, et al, should be sent to the address below. (Anything of value should be insured.) If you’d like to speed up the wait for your completed review, consider audio books (unabridged). Many of our reviewers have a reading table overloaded with books and a schedule overloaded with other priorities that push reading further and further down, making the wait for your review slower than it could be if audio books were offered instead. It’s just a suggestion.

Rending the Veil
260-A Oakland Street
Baytown, Texas 77520-1139 USA

Phone: 281-624-9650. Rules for phone: After 3 p.m. for coherent conversation, until dawn. (Local time. Think it over.) Text 24/7/365. If you call RTV on the phone, you’re calling my cell, so don’t be surprised when I just say “Hello.”

Email: sheta@rendingtheveil.com, though you can use admin@rendingtheveil.com for maximum exposure; this sends a copy to each of our senior editors. Do not misuse this privilege, unless of course you’re actually that stupid. You may send promotional packages with PDFs/ebooks of review copies, in lieu of physical books, for up to 50% of your submission total. We also love tarot decks and other divinatory tools. If you need to clarify anything, please feel free to email me or call; I’m easy.

Self-Published PDFs or E-Books

If you have a self-published book that you want us to review, email us and show us your press folder. If you have no press folder, please submit a 1500-3000 word excerpt for us to consider before we agree to look at the entire manuscript. Excerpt must match general tone of entire manuscript. If we decline to consider the full book, do not interpret that rejection as a reason to go on a single-minded Fatal Attraction campaign against this site or any of its representatives. Material devoted to

  1. The author’s personal mission from God
  2. Separatism in any form:
    • Pointing out the differences in a general group of people in a defamatory fashion or with a defamatory result
    • Pointing out the differences in oneself, versus whomever, from a tone of either arbitrary victimhood or superiority
  3. Hate
  4. Pornography, violence, the usual

will be immediately declined and will land the author a spot on the Watch list.

General Information You Might Want to Read: Rending the Veil is (as of 2013 July), and always has been a “seat of the pants” operation, meaning we learn all this stuff as we go, we’re not all that well organized, and we stumble often — usually in plain sight of gods and everybody. We smile sheepishly and try again. It’s been almost seven years and we remain, though there were times when I wondered if I could take another day. But I’ve been well-trained in patience, and a long hiatus usually does wonders and is not nearly as final as the axe. My point is this: If we put something up or make an announcement prematurely and then two days or two weeks later it all vanishes, that is the result of one thing — my impulsive need to share things that excite me.

Rending the Veil is seeking serious volunteers to help kick off next summer with new features and new staff. Also, we now welcome submissions anytime, so send in your best pieces today! Volunteer application (.docx).
