Welcome to the official launch and first issue of Rending the Veil! For our premiere issue we offer a collection of 13 articles and editorials, linked below. When the January issue is released, the content of the December issue will be archived and will remain available for retrieval. We also plan to include general basics in the archive without necessarily including them in a regular issue – things like the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, how to create a sigil, etc. If there’s anything in particular that you hope to see, you are welcome to contact us.
Things are ready for account sign-up; however, so far the only account level available is the Neophyte account. Feel free to register and reserve your preferred user name, even if you intend to choose a higher account level later. As new features become available you will be able to add them to your account as you are eligible per the Account Structure guidelines. Soon we will have member profiles and article commenting ready. Later, magical blogs and wiki, among other things. Don’t forget to check back and see how things are shaping up.
Our January issue will be released on January 19, 2007.
Regarding Staff Accounts: Initially we had the idea to make staff accounts available after three submissions. This has changed. Staff accounts are now offered as the highest tier level and the requirements have changed significantly. However, as these accounts were offered to our earliest contributors, to those who submit three approved articles (excluding reviews, editorials, or press releases), we will grant a Columnist account. Beyond that point, the regular guidelines apply. This offer extends only to the original, active contributors. If you’ve been a member of the staff mailing list but have not participated, you are ineligible for this offer. Likewise, anyone submitting after December 1, 2006 is ineligible for this special offer and must follow the standard tier advancement guidelines.
“This corner of the Witches’ Pyramid is not only what it appears to be on the surface. It is not solely “book learning.” It is also knowing that you possess the skills to put what you have learned into a practical application, using the knowledge you have garnered to put your magic into practice, knowing the means to …” read more…
“It’s amazing to see how things get back to you and what distorted forms they take, what odd transformations they undergo. I was at a party recently where I overheard some teenagers talking about a group of arcane magicians who tramped about the countryside in and around Our Fair City, summoning up strange forces …” read more…
“I used to term myself a Luciferian on top of the various other titles that could apply to me, such as magician, mystic, Hermetic, Rosicrucian, etc. The history behind my adoption of the title will be told shortly, but first I wish to establish that I no longer consider myself to be a Luciferian. The reasons will also be explained shortly. I have recently gone through what might be called a crisis of faith …” read more…
In these days of universal human rights, women’s rights, minority rights, rights for the disabled, and animal rights, it is about time someone thought about the rights of spiritual beings. Donald Tyson, author of four novels and numerous nonfiction books about Western magic, sets forth his position in this article, in which he demands that the existence, freedoms, and happiness of spirits be respected as the natural rights of these rational and self-aware entities. Read the manifesto…
“One issue that occurs with both Western and Eastern sex magic is the polarization of the sexes. This kind of thinking about the sexes can be found in nineteenth century occultism (and even further back). “One calls the forces positive and negative, and one rediscovers them in …” read more…
“It was hard to do this work. I haven’t been compelled to sit on the sidelines to castigate others for their views on Thelema since I was a teen, and I decided I wouldn’t do it now. Instead, I would simply show an opposing point of view collected from various writings which first appeared in …” read more…
“From the middle of February through to the beginning of April I involved myself in a working I designed around the seven steps of alchemy. I had been reading Dennis Hauck’s The Emerald Tablet: Alchemy for Personal Transformation, and in it he suggested that the seven steps of alchemy could be applied to …” read more…
“Meditation is the foundation of all magical and mystical systems of all cultures. It may seem a bit beginnerish to spend an entire article on the subject, but I believe this topic to be important enough to cover over and over again. I don’t think that I’ll have to do that here, but I at least want to get out my views on …” read more…
“An egregore, based on my observation, is not in itself a being (in the strictest sense), but the living source of energy from which a being draws its life. Think of it as a vast ‘energy cloud’ encompassing the collective view of the subject. I consider an egregore capable of sustaining an infinite number of …” read more…
“Much is made of semantics when it comes to animal magic. You have totems, and animal guides, and power animals, and animal spirits, and animal familiars, and tonal and nagual animals, and so on so forth. Everyone’s opinion varies as to what each of those words means, and I don’t …” read more…
“This section will usually be reserved for my pointless ramblings and insane rants. For now, however, I’d like to welcome you, one and all! This project of ours would be close to pointless without the writers submitting their work and the readers submitting their eyes and minds. Thank you all for being here, even if your stay is short, and I hope that you can …” read more…
“Greetings, and welcome to the first issue of Rending the Veil and the start of this column. I intend an eclectic mishmash of different things here that would not necessarily flow well as articles. For example, I will have the occasional column on tarot reading, as I’ve read tarot for over 30 years. I also intend to share channeled information from …”read more…
“After several months of updates and design changes, authors Taylor Ellwood and Lupa would like to announce the rebirth of the Pagan and Occult Author Resource Page. Located at …” read more…
